SO, WHAT IS FAST CHARGING?
From smartphones to laptops and cables to chargers, manufacturers are speaking about “Fast Charging”, but what does it truly mean?
Fast Charging is a term often used to market chargers and devices capable of charging faster than the present charging standard (5 Watts)
HOW FAST CHARGING WORKS
AMPERAGE X VOLTAGE = WATTS
The basic components of charging are amperage, voltage, and watts
Amperage (or current) is the amount of electricity flowing from the battery to your phone or other connected devices. Voltage is the speed or strength of the current. Watts are amperage multiplied by voltage
A common comparison used is a watering hose. Amperage (or current) is the hose width, voltage is the water pressure, and watts is how much water is coming from the hose
Is Fast Charging Safe?
Due to the fact that these technologies enable your smartphone to charge faster than standard charging speeds, your phone and charger might become warm while charging. To ensure you are always charging safely, use high-quality chargers and cables that have all relevant certifications. When using fully certified accessories, a fast charge is as safe as the standard charging
Types Of Fast Charging Standards
For Android phones, many support Quick Charge but there are various standards within that, so you’ll need to check your phone’s documentation or specifications to find out which standard it supports if any
Does My Phone Come With a Fast Charger?
If you’re unsure, you’ll need to know two ways:
- Take your mobile charger now and look at the power output ratings
- Go to google and search for the specification of your smartphone
